The Jonsson Project

Jonsson Pool!!
After the tile and decking is done, it's time to filler' up!!
We filled the pool, turned on the in floor system and now the Jonsson family is swimming! This pool took 21 days! That has to be a record, somewhere! (I am hoping that the family will allow me back to take some pics at night..)
Stay "tuned" for the Maltby project. This pool is being built 12 feet off the ground!!

The Jonsson Project

Now the gunite is being shot. (Gunite:a mixture of cement and sand and water that is sprayed on a surface under pneumatic pressure) This is a process that takes about 4 hours for a pool, and 4-5 hours for a pool & spa combo. Here, the nozzle guy will create the steps and benches.
The next phase is the Tile and Coping. And if we are building a waterfall, this is the phase we fabricate it. The Jonsson's have picked a beautiful tile that matches the color of the exterior of their home as well as the natural landscaping. Once all the tiles and stones are in place, we will start the deck work. The Jonsson's have chosen to go with a salt finish concrete(last pic is what it looks like).
As the deck is setting, check back with us to see the next phase!!

The Jonsson Project

Check out what we did to the Jonsson backyard!
This yard started out a flat space with some vegetation. First, we started off by marking with metal stakes, string and orange paint where (according to the plans) the pool would be dug. The homeowners were consulted to make sure that this is where they wanted it... and then the show starts!!
This is when the excavating begins. This can be a very noisy process. (Not to mention dusty!!) The excavation went well, we did hit some tough rock, but it went according to schedule. Forms were placed around the pool area, then we filled it with gravel. Steel rods were bent and placed to shape the pool. The plumbing is also set for the in-floor system and drains. We are now ready for GUNITE!!
Stay tuned to see the Gunite being shot and the pool starting to take shape. (check out the pics below)

Another view of our extended second step. This is a great addition to any pool. Family friendly, from the 2 legged children to the 4 legged, it is easy for all to enjoy!
Extended Second Steps

Here you can see our buddy Chance taking a well deserved dip in the pool. He is standing on our extended second step. This step is approximately 11' X 5'. Providing ample room for the dogs to be able to get in the pool and still stand safely.
This step also provides a great place for small children to stand and play, and adults to lounge on.

Feel free to call us with any questions you may have!

Keeping the Furry Critters Safe

There is more to pet pool safety than you think!
We love our furry friends and want to make sure their safety needs aren't ignored. But there's much more to pet pool safety than just protecting them from falling in.
Here are some tips to keep the man's best friend safe around the pool, courtesy of Petvideo.com:

1. Never throw a dog into a pool. Dogs don't necessarily know how to swim naturally. Throwing them in a pool can hurt them or cause them to panic.

2. Don't let a dog drink pool water. The chlorine can make them sick.

3.  Teach a dog over and over where the pool steps are located. this repetitive excersise can help it find its way out in case it falls in.

4. Hose a dog off with fresh water once it gets out of the pool. The chlorine can dry out a dog's skin.

5. Look for signs of over-heating or too much sun exposure. A long, happy, wagging tongue lets you know a dog is hot.

6. Keep fresh water near and bring dogs to a shaded area if they need a berak from the sun. Heat stroke is a real danger to dogs.

7. Put sunscreen on a dogs nose, ears, and stomach. Certain breeds of dogs are more susceptible to sunburn than others.

8. Install a pool fence and alarm. If a dog falls into a pool, it can panic, become disoriented and drown.

Remember that pools safety is always important! Wether it is you, your kids, or your four legged friends THINK SAFETY FIRST!!!
